Alum Connection with Charles Gay: Using Your Major to Fuel Any Career Path

Thursday, April 6, 2023
1:30-2:30 PM
Off Campus Location
Join Charles Gay (he/him) and the LSA Opportunity Hub for a discussion on how to identify and harness your LSA skills towards propelling your career forward, especially in the early years after graduation. This conversation will center on the exploration of all the career pathways down which your major can take you. Charles is working to build a career that expands Black banking in the United States. His Organizational Studies degree gave him the tools to understand people, but he knew gaining experience in finance would further contribute to his success. Upon graduating in 2021, Charles immediately moved to Boston to take on an investment management role where he built up skills and knowledge around private equity and venture capitalism. Today, his nine-to-five is working with investment leaders, and his five-to-nine is spent on his entrepreneurial journey to support Black bankers nationwide.

About Charles:
Charles works at HarbourVest Partners where he handles portfolio allocations and investments. Prior to HarbourVest, Charles was in an investment management role at Cambridge Associates.

You should attend this session if you are:
- Interested in a career in private equity or venture capital
- Exploring entrepreneurship as a post-graduation option
- Curious about applying skills and knowledge from your nine-to-five job to fuel other projects and interests.
- The ‘411’ on living and working in Boston

What you’ll gain by attending:
- Inspiration to use your degree to ignite your next steps
- Tips from a recent grad on how to best leverage your LSA education
- Insights into moving across the country for a job

RSVP now to be part of the conversation. The link to join this virtual Alum Connection will be emailed to you after you RSVP.
