Prospective Students

Welcome

Students who are interested in pursuing a major in Neuroscience are encouraged to meet with an advisor early in their academic career. It is never too early to make sure you are on the right track.

Neuroscience advisors are here to answer an array of questions regarding course requirements, course scheduling, the honors program, career opportunities, and post-graduation options. In addition, neuroscience advisors fill out important paperwork including your major declaration form, and your release form before you graduate.

Making an Advising Appointment

To schedule an advising appointment, please visit the online scheduling site. U-M login is required. (Because of the volume of students we accommodate, we cannot make an appointment for a student over the telephone or e-mail.)

Coordinating Advising

  • Meet with your general LSA advisor or honors or CSP advisor (if you are in the Honors or CSP Programs) to discuss general LSA requirements such as distribution course requirements.
  • Meet with a neuroscience (major) advisor for anything related to the major. This includes neuroscience course planning, discussing career paths, advice on finding a research opportunity, declaring a major, and filling out concentration release forms.
  • Meet with a pre-health advisor for information relating to the prerequisites required for health professional degrees (e.g., Medical School, Nursing, Dentistry, Pharmacy, etc.)

As always, please contact an advisor with any questions!
