The Latina/o Studies Program benefits from a strong cohort of graduate students whose scholarly research and teaching interests center on the study Latina/o history, politics, culture and social dynamics. While most of the graduate students who are actively involved in the Latina/o Studies Program come from the Humanities (particularly American Culture, History, Romance Languages, and English), since its inception, the Program has also served as a focal point for a large group of graduate students working in many disciplines within the College of LSA, as well as in other Schools at the University of Michigan, including Art & Design, Education, Architecture & Urban Planning, the School of Natural Resources & the Environment, Law, Music, Nursing, Public Health, Public Policy, and Social Work. Graduate students interested in Latina/o studies often explore Latino-themed projects in departments, such as Political Science and Health Behavior & Health Education/School of Public Health, where our many faculty affiliates are based.
The Program also offers a Graduate Certificate, which provides students interested in the field with a structured plan of study.
