Derek Gregory, Peter Wall Distinguished Professor of Political Geography at the University of British Columbia, continued the Eisenberg Institute's fall programming with the lecture, "Deadly Embrace: War, Distance, and Intimacy." In addition to a formidable body of groundbreaking work in the discipline of geography, Professor Gregory has reached audiences both inside and outside the academy with lectures and publications relating to post-9/11 warfare. He launched his blog, "Geographical Imaginations," in July 2012. The talk took place in 1014 Tisch Hall.

University of Michigan account holders can access an audio recording of Professor Gregory's talk.

Professor Gregory's lecture was part of the Institute's Thursday Speaker Series, which presents lectures relating to the current biennial theme, "Taking Place: History and Spatial Imaginations".
