Elizabeth Walker

We are pleased to announce that Elizabeth Walker stepped into her new role as graduate student administrative assistant in January 2017. Walker supports the EEB Frontiers and traditional master’s programs with a focus on increasing diversity. She is responsible for all aspects of recruitment, admission, and student progress in the master's programs, and she supports the Diversity Committee.

“My goals in this new job are to recruit new Frontiers students, help support current students as much as possible and assist in developing some clear goals for the program as it reaches its 10th year in existence,” she said. Walker works closely with Cindy Carl, EEB’s graduate program coordinator, who supports the graduate programs and is responsible for all aspects of recruitment, admission, and student progress in the Ph.D. program.

“I love working with all the graduate students and faculty,” Walker said. “EEB has such a complex group of research interests, and it's amazing to see how it all works together to create a community.”

Walker and her husband, Jason, have three active children. She met her husband, a high school history teacher, when she was in graduate school in South Carolina and said she dragged him up to Michigan. She enjoys reading, quilting and kayaking. “I have a strong passion for science outreach and chair my kids’ science fairs.”

Previously, Walker worked in the lab of Professor Patricia Wittkopp where she was a lab manager and research technician for six-and-a-half years.
