Julie Nelson

Julie Nelson is a counselor, creative writer, and educator who comes to the Honors Program from the Newnan Academic Advising Center. She has over 25 years of academic advising experience, including over ten years of experience as a pre-health advisor at U-M and also, from 2013 to 2022, at the University of Iowa. She is active in the National Academic Advisors in the Health Professions organization where she serves as co-editor to the "In the Know" blog for pre-health advisors. She has published journal articles, short stories, poems, and textbook chapters, and she loves writing, hiking, and time with family. Advising students on the pre-health path lives at the very heart of her, and she loves helping students author their own experience.
