The LSA Young Alumni Council works to create a culture of giving among LSA’s young alumni. One of the ways the YAC seeks to accomplish this is by supporting the college financially. Specifically, the YAC champions the LSA Fund for Internships and the LSA Fund for Scholarships through fundraising events, donations, and Giving Blueday. As recent graduates not far removed from the student experience, members understand the impact that an internship can have on a student’s life, experiences, and career trajectory.

The YAC participates each March in Giving Blueday and continues to increase its social media presence, as well as provide interactive tools that engage other young alumni who are unable to attend an event. For everyone who loves U-M, this is an opportunity to celebrate giving and maximize their impact.

What does the LSA Fund for Internships and Fund for Scholarships support?

The LSA Fund for Student Internships supports current students who demonstrate need in order to participate in a career-related domestic or international internship. The LSA Fund for Scholarships provides undergraduate and graduate scholarships and financial aid, as well as study abroad assistance, based on need or merit.

Is a donation required to join the YAC?

Although we encourage every member to give if they're able, donations are not required. We ask members to support areas of the college and university in the ways they find most meaningful.

What is Giving Blueday?

The signature fundraising event YAC members are encouraged to participate in is Giving Blueday, U-M’s annual day of giving. The next big day is on March 15, 2023 where you can support students (through scholarships and the LSA Opportunity Hub), your favorite LSA department, or other U-M causes.

How can I participate in Giving Blueday as a YAC member?

Whether virtually, hybrid, or in-person, there are opportunities for YAC members to connect socially and raise both funds and awareness for some LSA and U-M initiatives. Gathering over food at a local restaurant, or simply watching a U-M sporting event together, are ways that YAC members have engaged with Giving Blueday in the past.

Where do I start if I'd like to plan a fundraising or Giving Blueday event?
