Give to IPAMAA

The Interdepartmental Program in Ancient Mediterranean Art and Archaeology (IPAMAA) at the University of Michigan is one of the top three graduate programs in ancient Mediterranean archaeology in the United States. First established nearly 50 years ago, IPAMAA derives special strength from an interdisciplinary and inclusive approach to the study of Mediterranean antiquity. The program is jointly sponsored by the Departments of Classical Studies and History of Art and is closely associated with the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology. In addition to access to the rich resources of the Kelsey Museum, IPAMAA students benefit from the opportunity to participate in UM-faculty directed archaeological field projects in Italy, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, and Sudan.

Your Gifts at Work

[An IPAMAA travel grant in 2023] "helped me gather ideas and material to start crafting my dissertation, which will explore the embodiment of ritual in Greek sanctuaries."

– Ginevra Miglierina

“[With IPAMAA support], I will spend several weeks in Sicily this November [2021] visiting sites and museums...I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity to visit archaeological sites and study excavated materials.”

– Alex Moskowitz

IPAMAA Strategic Fund (319292)

The purpose of the IPAMAA strategic fund is to provide extra support for student research. This may take a number of forms, including: a) purchase of field equipment for shared use by students (such as cameras or surveying equipment); b) purchase of software and office equipment for shared use by students (such as large format scanners and printers); c) support for research-related student travel, including travel to conferences; d) support for student publications (such as image reproduction rights).

John G. Pedley Travel and Research Award (366706)

Provides support for IPAMAA students to participate in archaeological fieldwork, to do on-site collections research in museums, and to collaborate with colleagues and scholars across the Mediterranean and Europe.

Thank you for supporting IPAMAA!
