The Sustainable Living Experience (SLE) is open to incoming first year students from all schools and colleges within the University of Michigan. Once you have been accepted to the University AND submit your enrollment deposit, you can begin the process of applying to the SLE!
Step 1) Decide if the SLE is right or you. Contact us with any questions you have!
Step 2) Complete the University of Michigan Housing Application, and be sure to indicate your interest in the SLE through the Theme Community application (be sure to click the green "apply now" button).
Step 3) Complete the SLE essay question, which asks "What do you hope to gain from and contribute to the Sustainable Living Experience?" (250 words or less).
Step 4) Receive notification of acceptance from SLE.
Step 5) Receive and complete your Housing contract for a space in Oxford Houses.
Step 6) Register for the 1 credit SLE Seminar course.
Step 7) Move in to SLE in the fall and participate in SLE Orientation and Welcome events.
*Note: If SLE is your first choice of living learning community, consider only applying to SLE or exclusively to Theme Communities. Any student who applies to a Michigan Learning Community (MLC) and is accepted will be placed in that MLC and will not be considered for placement in a Theme Community.
