Activities

The Undergraduate Comparative Literature Association is a group dedicated to creating a community for undergraduates in which they can explore critical theory, attend coffee hours with professors, create the on-line translation magazine Canon, schedule foreign movie nights, and get to know both undergraduate and graduate students in the program here at UM.

Canon Translation Journal is the University of Michigan’s online literary magazine dedicated to promoting and publishing undergraduate and graduate translation. Although we are based within the Comparative Literature department, we hope to draw students from all areas of the university. Submissions should include an MLA citation, the translation title, and a brief introduction. For more details, check out the Submission Guidelines on the Canon website.

Each year during Winter term, the Department of Comparative Literature invites graduating seniors across the University of Michigan to participate in the Senior Prize in Literary Translation. This prize is intended to encourage undergraduate students to develop translation projects through translating into English a literary text originally written in another language.
