First and second year WISE RP students had the opportunity to interact and ask questions in small group settings to get to know WISE RP alumni. Each year, current students rave about how much they learned from the alumni and had positive experiences.

Kathleen Abenes, PhD '16

Dr. Kathleen Abenes graduated from the University of Michigan in 2016 with a degree in Biomolecular Sciences and Biopsychology, Cognition, Neuroscience. She was involved in WISE RP during all four years of undergrad, participating as a member of the recruitment team, peer mentor, and resident advisor. During her time at Michigan, she served as an executive board member for FEMMES (Women+ Excelling More in Math, Engineering, and the Sciences) and worked as an academic peer advisor during freshman orientation for the LSA Newnan Advising Center. She then went on to complete her MD at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in 2020. Following this, she returned to Ann Arbor for her family medicine residency at Michigan Medicine, which she completed in June 2023. She currently works as a Family Medicine Physician for Corewell Health in Taylor, MI and enjoys the longitudinal relationships she builds with her patients.

Isha Bhatt '21

Isha Bhatt is a robotics software engineer with a Master’s degree in Robotics (2023) and a BSE in Computer Engineering (2021). During her time at Michigan, she was involved in WISE RP for two years. She continued her passion for mentorship and teaching as an undergraduate TA for EECS 280 and later as a GSI for ENGR 101 during grad school. After graduation, she worked as a full-time software engineer on bringing the Disney Bundle to various devices at Disney Streaming before returning to Michigan for her master’s degree. In grad school, she focused on autonomous driving applications through coursework, interning at an autonomous driving startup, and conducting perception research at the UM Ford Center for Autonomous Vehicles. After grad school, Isha joined H3D, a startup in Ann Arbor, as their first full-time robotics software hire. She integrates new sensors for localization and mapping for hand-held radiation detectors, implements new robotics algorithms, and does embedded software development. Outside of work, she enjoys doing professional photography, yoga, Indian Classical vocal music at MusicGuru, cooking, and learning traditional bhangra at Furteelay Academy.

Meagan Dean '18

Meagan Dean completed her Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2018 and her Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) in 2022 at the University of Michigan (UofM). She has remained in the area over the last 2 years to complete her PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency in June 2023 and is currently completing her PGY2 Psychiatry Pharmacy Residency at the University of Michigan Health (Michigan Medicine).  During her time at Michigan, as an undergraduate and professional student, she was a peer mentor in WISE RP, president of the pre-pharmacy student organization, president of the university chapter of the American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP), pharmacy class representative, part of the UofM Leadership Scholars Program and developed "Mental Wellness Week" at the College of Pharmacy. As a pharmacy resident, Meagan's research and continuing education seminars have been presented at both regional and national conferences and she is anticipating publication of these projects in the coming months.  In addition, she earned her teaching certificate in June 2023 and pharmacist preceptor license shortly after. As adjunct clinical faculty at UofM College of Pharmacy, she enjoys precepting pharmacy students on rotation with her at the hospital and teaching intermittently in courses.  Meagan is currently interviewing for post-residency jobs with anticipation of starting later this summer; she is excited for this next chapter of her career. When she's not working at the hospital, she loves to go on walks with her friends, their dogs, and her almost 5 year old golden retriever, Remy.

Supriya Jalukar '14

Supriya Jalukar is a registered/licensed occupational therapist currently serving as a resource/navigation specialist with Autism Alliance of Michigan. She graduated from the University of Michigan with her bachelor’s degree in Biopsychology, Cognition & Neuroscience in December 2014 and completed her master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Baker College in August 2020. During her time at Michigan, she was a peer mentor with WISE RP and recipient of the Elaine R. Feldman Summer Research Fellowship in 2012. She was also involvedwith UROP, Circle K, the Khorana Program and UM Undergraduate Research Journal (UMURJ).
Since completing her master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, Supriya has worked in a variety of clinical settings as an OT, including hospital-based inpatient rehabilitation, acute care, community non-profit and pediatrics. She has completed additional certifications in mental health first aid and ergonomic assessment. In her current role at the Autism Alliance, she serves families and individuals on the autism spectrum, as well as being involved in their annual conferences, community partnerships and other events.

Shahera Khandaker '21

Shahera Khandaker is a University of Michigan 2021 graduate. She majored in Industrial and Operations Engineering. During her time in undergrad, she was involved in the Society of Women Engineers where she participated in Team Tech 2018 and co-directed a global engagement program in India in 2019. She also completed an internship with Lear Corporation in 2019 and was offered an internship with Tesla Motors in 2020. She currently works for Eaton Corporation as a Product Development Engineer in a Terminals and Connectors department. She was offered admissions to the Johns Hopkins University’s Master’s in Engineering program.

Rachel Moszyk, PhD '16

Dr. Rachel Moszyk is currently a Research Scientist at Iaso Therapeutics, a pre-clinical vaccine development startup spun out of Michigan State University. Rachel completed her B.S. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Michigan in 2016, then went on to earn her Ph.D. in Molecular Cell Biology at Washington University in St. Louis. Rachel completed her thesis work in Dr. Jeffrey Bednarski’s lab, where she examined the role of the DNA damage response in developing B cells. Rachel was actively involved in WISE RP, joining her freshman year in 2012 and staying on as a Peer Mentor through 2014. Rachel was also a member of the WISE RP Recruitment Team during the summer of 2013. Rachel served as an advisory board member and participated in the Girls in Science Summer Camp through 2016. Inspired by her time in WISE RP, Rachel founded and led a Women in STEM student group at Washington University in 2018, which is still ongoing today. Rachel participated in UROP from 2013-15 and was awarded the WISE RP Summer Research Fellowship in 2014, then became a Doisy Undergraduate Summer Research Scholar at Saint Louis University in 2015.

Corrine Tessin '21

Corrine Tessin completed her bachelor's degree in actuarial mathematics and statistics in December of 2021 in LSA at the University of Michigan.  During her time at Michigan, she was a member of WISE RP for 2 years, serving as a peer mentor and a program board member.  She was also a member of the Student Actuaries at Michigan and served as Secretary her junior year.  For the past two years, she has been working as a pricing actuary at State Farm, and yes, she has seen Jake in person.
