Curricular Engagement

Yes! There is an academic component to being in the WISE RP! The benefit of being in a living and learning community is that you get to engage with peers socially (check out the co-curricular engagement page) and academically through our year long academic courses ALA 107 and 108. While you and your peers may be interested in an array of STEM disciplines, ALA 107 and 108 are learning spaces in which WISE RP members can discuss how to navigate those core STEM classes. WISE RP’s seminars are designed to equip students with critical skills and tools to successfully traverse their STEM journeys. The core goals of both courses are to cultivate community, create space to learn within and across differences, and assist students in embodying the tenets of WISE RP: centering identity in STEM contexts, bolstering STEM self-efficacy, and cultivating critical leadership skills. All WISE RP seminars will be a space in which you will be supported and will learn within and across differences. What is of utmost importance is that we are all willing learners, respectful, flexible, and supportive of all.
