About
Caitlyn (Caity) Marentette is an alumna of the University of Pennsylvania. Having majored in South Asia Studies, Caity’s research is concerned with South Asian cultural and intellectual histories, with an emphasis on literatures and shared materialities across Indic, Islamicate, and colonial worlds, c. 1600-2000. Her latest research interests include linkages across regional and vernacular language movements, the evolution of pedagogies in modern history, the history of the printing press in South Asia, Indo-Persian material culture, and expressions of emotion across culturally and religiously pluralistic spaces. Caity’s research languages include Bangla, Hindi-Urdu, and German, and she is a former recipient of the Critical Language Scholarship.
