Conference Travel Grant for Undergraduate Students

Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences undergraduate majors and minors are eligible for funding to attend one conference per academic year.  Funding is limited to a maximum award of $500 per student per year (September 1-August 31).  The student must have a poster or a talk accepted by the conference organizers, and a PDF of that acceptance must be uploaded with this application.

Students must submit their application before the first day of the conference. Travel must be completed before the last day of exams in the student's final term of registration in their undergraduate program. Applications will not be considered for retroactive funding.

Undergraduate students are eligible to apply for a Conference Travel Grant award if:

  • The student is a major or a minor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences.
  • The student is in good academic standing in their LSA undergraduate program.
  • The student has responded to a formal call for abstracts.
  • The student has been accepted to present a poster or a talk at a conference.

Deadline: A complete application, including a faculty recommendation form, must be received before the first day of the conference.

Important Note about Financial Aid: The $500 award will be deposited as a disbursable amount into the student's financial aid account. For students who qualify for need-based financial aid (including the child care subsidy), receipt of this Conference Travel Grant award may reduce the original loan amount or subsidy. Students must have direct deposit set up for their student account to receive the disbursed award.
