Meaningful Objects: Museums in the Academy
The 2009-2010 LSA Theme Year celebrates the contributions of our university museums to intellectual, cultural, and social life at the University of Michigan and in the larger southeastern Michigan community. Through classes, public lectures, tours, exhibits and other events, the theme year explores the unique potentials of university museums as sites of critical reflection, knowledge production, cultural engagement, life-long learning, and personal fulfillment.
The Theme Year is coordinated by the U-M Museum of Anthropology, the LSA Museums, the Museum Studies Program, and numerous partners across the University, and is made possible by the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts and many co-sponsors.
