Research

The Mediterranean Perspective on Global History and Culture supports research in all aspects of Mediterranean studies. Currently faculty are working on Byzantine Constantinople, moriscos in the sixteenth century, long-term patterns of interaction, exchange, and craft production in the Bronze Age Cyclades, the Jewish cultures of Istanbul, the transmission and circulation of ancient medical texts, early photography in the eastern Mediterranean, and other subjects. Graduate students are working on topics such as migration, food culture, material culture, arts policy, and reception across the Mediterranean.
