This workshop deals with basic Linux usage, the Gene Express Omnibus (GEO) and its data format, the basic biology of Ebola, and using Linux commands to format GEO data for further statistical analysis. It will give you an idea of how computational genetic research is conducted in the context of a specific disease. This is a first session of a two-day workshop. No prior knowledge is needed but some understanding of RNA expressions will be beneficial. Bring your laptops. For Window users, instructions on Cygwin download will be provided before the workshop.
