FAST Lecture - "Negotiating the Pharaonic Past: New Research on Ptolemaic Abydos"

Thursday, November 29, 2012
12:00 AM
Kelsey Museum, 434 South State St., Ann Arbor

Abydos was a major cult center to Osiris, god of the dead, and its cemeteries were in use for 3500 years. Recent research has revealed much about Ptolemaic-period use of the site, including the development of the funerary landscape and intractions with earlier, Pharaonic remains.  FAST lectures are organized by students in the Interdepartmental Program in Classical Art and Archaeology.

Speaker:
Tom Landvatter, Interdepartmental Program in Classical Art and Archaeology
