The Michigan Daily recently featured the Center for Armenian Studies at the University of Michigan’s event, “Shared Memories: The Armenian Experience Through Objects and Stories,” which brought together around 70 students, faculty, and community members. The event, designed to be interactive, encouraged attendees to share objects and stories that reflected their Armenian identity and experience. This interactive approach, combined with cultural foods, music, and meaningful conversations, successfully connected community members with their cultural identity and retold stories of the Armenian experience. During the show-and-tell portion of the event, participants presented heirlooms and shared stories representative of their unique identities as Armenian-Americans. The objects, which included photographs, artwork, and books, facilitated a dialogue about the shared experiences of the Armenian community on campus.
