Congratulations to U-M alum Bree Doering, assistant professor in anthropology at University of Wyoming, who has received a five-year, $699,550 NSF CAREER award for her research in Alaska. Doering is the first anthropologist at the University of Wyoming to receive the grant, which will fund her work on subsistence and paleoclimate in the Alaskan interior.

During the project, she will collaborate with descendant communities and provide field and lab opportunities for Alaska Native youth and students at the University of Wyoming. “Ultimately, this research will explore one way that Western theory and Indigenous ways of knowing might be meaningfully integrated in our understanding of past environments,” she said in the UW press release.
