About
J’Mauri Jackson (she/her) is a doctoral student in the Department of Sociology and the Ford School of Public Policy. She holds a Master of Arts in Sociology from Indiana University (2022) and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from The Ohio State University (2019). Her research broadly focuses on the social and structural determinants of racial health inequities. In particular, she is interested in the relationship between the criminal justice system and health outcomes and the social factors implicated in utilizing physical and mental healthcare services. She aims to create research that is translational and can reduce the impacts of systemic racism on health through informed practice and policy.
J’Mauri is a recipient of the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship and Building Research Inclusion and Diversity Graduate Education (BRIDGE) Scholarship at Duke University School of Medicine. Prior to joining U-Michigan, she was a science intern at the Center for Policing Equity and a research assistant for the Qualitative Research Partners (QualCore) at Duke University.
