Melissa joined Organizational Studies in 2005 as Student Services Assistant and became Chief Administrator in March 2007. Melissa’s responsibilities as the Chief Administrator include budget management; faculty and staff appointments; and supervision of the office staff. She serves as a liaison between the Program and the College; interprets University and College policies; and develops strategic plans with the Director and staff.
Melissa obtained her BA in German and Literary Studies from Middlebury College, VT in 1986. Upon completion of her degree, she worked in Germany in administrative roles for six years, including program coordinator assistant for an international professional exchange organization and business manager for a software company. She returned to the US in 1992 and worked as a project coordinator for Harvard Translations Agency in Boston. Upon completion of her Masters in Higher Education Administration at the UM (1995), she began her professional career at Michigan, working at the International Center (Health Insurance Coordinator), Engineering Research Center for Reconfigurable Manufacturing Systems (Education Coordinator), Engineering Office of Graduation Education (Recruiter and Special Projects Coordinator) and Engineering International Programs (Director). She follows her passion for international education by organizing cross-cultural activities, learning Arabic, and hosting exchange students.
