Research

U-M History is a leader in producing and supporting research, whether by faculty, graduate students, or even undergraduates. Our faculty have published more than 300 books—and thousands of articles—on a range of topics spanning the millenia and covering nearly every geographic region in the world. They regularly win coveted fellowships, from Guggenheims to MacArthur "Genius Grants," prizes for books and articles, and are often called upon by media to share their expertise in matters ranging from civil rights to climate change to contemporary politics.

Faculty also engage the public with historical research through museum and online exhibits, blogs, social media, activism, and more.
