Prospective Students

The program in Classical Language and Literature is known for the quality and breadth of its training. Students can explore the ancient Mediterranean world from the Bronze age to late Antiquity with scholars specializing in literature, linguistics, archaeology, history, and philosophy, and they have access to outstanding collections of papyri, inscriptions, coins, and other ancient artifacts at the Hatcher Library and Kelsey Museum of Archaeology, both adjacent to the Department’s home in Angell Hall. Many of our students extend their studies by pursuing a Certificate in another field, for example, Women’s and Gender Studies, Classical Reception, or Medieval and Early Modern Studies. As one of the largest programs in the country, Classical Studies offers students a uniquely rich and stimulating environment in which to learn about Classical Antiquity.
