Southeast Michigan

Southeast Michigan is one of the original LSA YAC regions, established in 2011. With LSA located in its backyard, the Council does a wonderful job connecting with the College and its students. Members of the Council are engaged participants who mentor and volunteer. Leadership Team

Alexandra Bartholomew graduated in 2010 and earned a master's degree in education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education's School Leadership Program. She formerly served on Teach For America's Recruitment Team in Washington, D.C. and recently relocated to Michigan where she works as the Assistant Principal to McGrath/Anderson Elementary School. Every day, she strives for educational equity, starting from her time as a 2010 Chicago Teach For America corps member, teaching 11th grade special education. While at her placement school, she instated and developed a Special Education Department and served as the Dean of Specialized Instruction.

Evan Gerstein graduated with a degree in political science and a minor in history in 2016. He was involved in Michigan Mock Trial, Hillel, Hillel club ice hockey, Campus Day, and the Dean of Students Advisory Board. He currently works as an admissions counselor for U-M Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Evan joined LSA YAC because he wanted to give back to the college that gave him the tools for success. Through LSA YAC he will be able to fundraise for LSA and mentor current students. Being a member will keep him in the loop and push him to help improve the college.
