Southeast Michigan

Southeast Michigan is one of the original LSA YAC regions, established in 2011. With LSA located in its backyard, the council does a wonderful job connecting with the college and its students. Members of the council are engaged participants who mentor and volunteer. If you would like to get involved with the LSA Young Alumni Council in Southeast Michigan, please fill out the interest or event mailing form below.

Leadership Team

Shavon Edwards graduated in 2018 with a degree in political science and a minor in history of law & policy. She currently works as a Mobility Strategist at WSP in Detroit. As a student, Shavon was involed in the Barger Leadership Institute, the Dean of Students Advisory Board, Kessler Scholars, and the Black Student Union among other activities. She joined the YAC to foster a personal and professional community in post grad life. Shavon values her liberal arts education as it helped her to work within different disciplines and think holistically.

Jenise Williams graduated with a degree in psychology in 2018. She was involved in the Black Student Union, GIEU Global Scholars, and the Dean of Students Advisory Board among many other groups. She currently works as a Corps Member for Teach for America where she teaches Kindergarten at Burns Elementary-Middle School. As the daughter of two Michigan grads, Jenise understood the importance of remaining active with the University as an alum. She believes the YAC provides the perfect opportunity to give back, stay informed, and remain connected to fellow wolverines!
