Fellows Luncheon 2017

Featured guest alumna, Carrie Morris:

Artist and CWPS alum Carrie Morris presents on her work, social practice and research in Indonesia and Detroit. A graduate of the Stamps MFA program and a former Fulbright grantee in Surakarta, Indonesia, Morris will present an overview of her current creative practice, research interests and conceptual ties to the work she began in the CWPS graduate residency program. She founded Carrie Morris Arts Production (CMAP) in 2012 to provide a forum for contemporary puppetry, multimedia performance and artistic exploration in Detroit, and to facilitate the creation of performative experiences that extend beyond the stage and out into the world. Our mission is to create and support new works, and to present the highest quality shows for the people of Detroit and Hamtramck in a way that is inclusive, intimate and community-centered. We strive to provide access to the performing arts across economic and cultural divides while expanding the public’s understanding of what performance can be.
