Faculty

The Center for World Performance Studies offers extraordinary depth in scholarship and instruction. A multitude of faculty members from a wide array of departments at the University of Michigan serve students and the larger community by raising awareness of - and being an advocate for -  the greater inclusion of underrepresented cultures within the academy. The Center and its faculty collaborate within and across LSA, Rackham, as well as the university’s professional schools and colleges.

Our funding offers faculty the opportunity to pursue individual summer research projects, domestically and internationally. We encourage proposals that demonstrate long-term scholarly impact, show educational value for graduate or undergraduate students, and extend international collaborations.

The CWPS Steering Committee meets year-round to discuss CWPS’s mission, goals, curriculum, programming, and development.

Faculty Affiliates include U-M permanent faculty, as well as visiting faculty teaching or conducting research on issues of direct relevance to CWPS mission. Are you a U-M faculty member interested in becoming affiliated with the Center for World Performance Studies? If so, please contact us at CWPS.Information@umich.edu

Our programs and initiatives bring in leading artists, faculty and scholars in the field of World Performance Studies. Through our robust programming, we provide many opportunities for student and faculty interaction with visitors including class visits, seminars, roundtables, public lectures, demonstrations and performances. All are welcomed and encouraged to attend these events—it’s a great way to get involved, network and learn something new! Please visit our events page for a current list of activities.
