About
Christina Whitman is the Francis A. Allen Collegiate Professor Emerita of Law and Professor Emerita of Women's and Gender Studies. She holds three degrees from the University of Michigan: a B.A. in English, a Master's Degree in Chinese literature, and a J.D. She began her academic career at Michigan in 1976, after clerking for Judge Harold Leventhal of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and Justice Lewis F. Powell of the United States Supreme Court. From 1997 to 2001 she served as associate dean for academic affairs for the Law School. Her research centers on civil rights litigation, constitutional law, and feminist jurisprudence.
