Facilitated Conference: New Articulations / New Translations: Feminist Research Activism

This daylong conference will address the intersections of feminist research and activism, convening scholars engaged with community and policy work in the areas of prisons, reproductive justice, trans identities and issues, and new media.

This event is planned as a facilitated working conference with ample time for small and large group discussion.

Panel 1: Gender, Sexuality, & Prisons

Scholarly, community, and artistic work in prisons, informed by feminist, gender, and queer analyses.

Panel 2: Reproductive Justice

Creatively and productively managing the research/activism distinction in reproductive justice; how can reproductive justice be advanced by feminist evidence-based research?

Panel 3: Trans: Bodies & Histories

New work on trans identities and issues; pushing the boundaries of queer and gender studies through trans analysis and awareness.

Panel 4: New Media Activism

How can new media and social media do feminist work? How might we think about the relationship between feminist digital studies and media activism? Where have we been and where are we heading, and want to go?
