Ann Arbor Community

Located 45 miles west of Detroit, Ann Arbor is a vibrant, progressive, and diverse community surrounded by open farmland and charming small towns. With a thriving arts and music scene, high quality health care, and a low crime rate, Ann Arbor is regularly ranked as one of the best places to live in the United States.

Feminists, in particular, find great reason to call Ann Arbor home. Women own a quarter of local businesses and play a major role in civic and political affairs. The city’s LGBTQ scene, buoyed by services such as the UM Spectrum Center and the Jim Toy Community Center, is among the most vibrant in Michigan. Almost one in five Ann Arbor residents were born outside of the United States, and a number of ethnic enclaves are located nearby in Metropolitan Detroit.

Ann Arbor offers a plethora of activities and attractions for any interest. Museums, book stores, parks, markets, and restaurants dot all parts of town, and concerts, festivals, and sporting events take place throughout the year.
