Graduate Certificate Course Petition

Many of the courses on our curriculum are approved Topics/Seminar sections. Topics courses can change from semester to semester, and for this reason many of our certificate students wish to petition coursework not on our permanent curriculum. You are not limited to petitioning sections from the following courses, but here is a good list of classes which often offer CogSci-relevant sections:

EECS 598: Special Topics

LING 792: Topics in Linguistics

PSYCH 748: Expertise- Cognitive, Perceptual and Motor Skill Learning/Performance

PSYCH 808: Special Seminars in Psychology

PSYCH 958: Special Seminar in Development

Rackham graduate students who wish to submit a course petition to the Weinberg Institute for Cognitive Science should read the following information and fill out a Graduate Certificate Course Petition.

The Graduate Committee reviewing petitions will be primarily looking for overall course content that is concerned with internal cognitive processes and capacities. Courses focused on phenomena at higher (social, behavioral) or lower (neurobiological) levels of analysis are often not appropriate for the Certificate.
