The Michigan Research and Discovery Scholars (MRADS) is the residential affiliate of the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP).
MRADS students participate in UROP research projects. However, unlike traditional UROP students, MRADS students live together as members of a residential learning community. In addition, instead of enrolling in UROP’s fall seminar course (UC 280) and working with Peer Facilitators according to their disciplinary interests, MRADS students attend MRADS-specific research seminars and meet with in-house MRADS Peer Facilitators through enrolling in ALA 104: "Introduction to Research." At the end of the winter term, MRADS holds a Spring Research Symposium that is separate from UROP’s annual Spring Research Symposium. MRADS is a great option for students looking to participate in research who are also interested in participating in a close-knit living community of research scholars.
The application and admissions processes for MRADS differs from UROP. Students admitted to the University of Michigan, may apply to the Michigan Research and Discovery Scholars through the Michigan Learning Community application.
For more information on MRADS, contact: [email protected].
Admitted students who wish to apply directly to UROP for a non-residential research experience may submit the application found on the UROP website. The UROP application typically opens in late April or early May.
