Congratulations to Yasmeen Berry, the first applicant from Henry Ford Community College to ever apply for the highly competitive Goldwater Fellowship: https://goldwater.scholarsapply.org/ .
Although Yasmeen will not hear back until March about the fellowship, we are extremely happy and proud of her!
"I am extremely grateful for the extraordinary research experience I gained from UROP, both as a 2020 CCSFP Summer Research Fellow and a Mellon Scholar. The majority of my research listed in the Goldwater application comes from my UROP experiences and made me eligible to even apply for this type of opportunity. I've been admitted to the University of Michigan and I plan to major in Evolutionary Anthropology and minor in Biochemistry. I hope to work in research involving both the humanities and the sciences. Upon transferring, I plan to collaborate with the research team of "Narrating Nubia: The Social Lives of Heritage” under the UM Humanities Collaboratory. I also hope to continue conducting neuroscience research with the Truttmann Lab under the Department of Molecular and Integrative Physiology at the University Medical School"
