What years did you participate in UROP?

2016-2017

What UROP Program(s) were you a part of?

UROP in Residence (MRC: Michigan Research Community)

What made you choose UROP?

The people. With MRC, I met a dynamic group of people that really elevated my thinking and life overall.

What do you think you have learned from your UROP experience?

Learning how to work with people on technical things I didn't know much about and sometimes didn't want to work on.

What is the extent to which you have kept in contact with your Research Mentor?

Very little. Only LinkedIn.

How did your UROP experience shape or inform the next steps you took in your academic and professional journey?

It really showed me the type of hands-on work I wanted to do, while also clarifying that subject that I wanted to pursue (which was not the subject of my research).

Where are you in your professional journey?

Currently pursuing and MS Robotics at Michigan.

What advice would you give to a current UROP student?

You're more capable than you think you are. Speak up and advocate for yourself.

Is there any other advice you would like to impart to current or future UROP students?

The journey is often nonlinear. Do your best to stay on the course.
