What do you think you have learned from your UROP experience?

I learned very important lessons about how research is performed, what the strengths and weaknesses are of study design and analysis. I was also personally exposed to and reminded of stark differences in SES even within the same city, and how that reflects equity and equality in the US.

What is the extent to which you have kept in contact with your Research Mentor?

Not at all, made a drastic career change after university.

How did your UROP experience shape or inform the next steps you took in your academic and professional journey?

I learned a great deal that I come back to now.

Where are you in your professional journey?

I am a partner and leader of a $1.5B professional services (bankruptcy, turnaround, performance improvement consulting).

What advice would you give to a current UROP student?

Do more than just participate - learn how research works in reality, and use it to form your own work and study your own interests.
