Annual Events

Bring the whole family to these fun-filled and educational annual events!

Check our calendar for event dates!

ID Day

This is your chance to bring in objects and artifacts for identification by experts.  Items such as fossils, bones, shells, rocks, insects, arrowheads, and more are welcome!  If you don’t have an object to bring, come anyway.  The experts bring items from their collections and look forward to talking with you!  (Sorry, no appraisals will be given.)

Family Halloween Party

Have a Halloween that's fun, safe - and educational as well! Combining entertaining activities with informal science learning, the Museum's Family Halloween Party has become one of the most popular Halloween activities in the area.

Family Fun Nights

Join us for an enjoyable night at the Museum!  We stay open late so that families can enjoy story time, dinosaur tours, hands-on demonstrations, and short planetarium shows.

Discovery Days

Come experience a day full of hands-on activities, special guests, live demonstrations, crafts and more at our twice annual Discovery Day events.

Butterfly Festival

Encounter live butterflies in an enclosed habitat and learn about their life cycle at this exciting spring event. Learn about the Monarch migration as you travel to Mexico and back to Michigan. Metamorphose into a butterfly as you make your very own wings to take home.
