Professors in several disciplines are studying the travels of Hyecho, an 8th-century Korean monk.

Scholars from several disciplines—including archaeology, art history, museum studies, and Asian studies—are working together on a research project that focuses on Hyecho, a Korean monk who lived about 1300 years ago. Hyecho’s journey and his writings are the focus of the project, which will result in a book, an exhibit, two apps, and an undergraduate class. UMMAA curator Carla Sinopoli is one of the professors featured in an illustrated article about the project, done in the style of a graphic novel, in the LSA Magazine.
