In May, UMMAA curator Rob Beck and his colleagues, Casey Barrier (Bryn Mawr College), Ed Henry (Colorado State University), and Tim Horsley (Horsley Archaeological Prospection), will begin work on a massive five-year archaeo-geophysical survey of the prehistoric city of Cahokia. The team will use magnetometry equipment to map about 5.5 square kilometers in the center of the ancient urban area, which is in Collinsville, Illinois, just east of St. Louis, Missouri.
