You are invited to the Department of Anthropology's annual symposium. This year's theme is "Sustainable Life: Culture, Values, and Practice." The symposium will be held on Monday, October 7, from 1 to 5 p.m., at the Michigan Union Rogel Ballroom.

There will be four guest speakers, representing the four subfields of anthropology: Steven Goldstein, archaeology, University of Pittsburgh; Anne Pisor, biological anthropology, Washington State University; Joshua Shapero, linguistics, University of New Mexico; and Sarah Vaughn, sociocultural anthropology, University of California Berkeley.

Register now! Join us for guest speakers and discussion across our four subfields exploring the values and practices that shape and transform cultures of sustainability. Drawing upon a range of cases past and present, we'll seek insights from language, biology, society, and material culture.

Breaks and refreshments will be provided, and a reception will follow the event program.

This event is free and open to the public; please register to attend.
