This December 1, U-M is once again turning Giving Tuesday—the national movement to kick off the giving season—into Giving Blueday. On this special day, from midnight through 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, you can be a victor for Michigan by making a donation to the areas of your choice at the university (please include UMBS!). Gifts of every size will make a difference!

On Giving Blueday, we are asking for donations to our Development Fund (300652), which we use for student scholarships.

Your gift can go even further during Giving Blueday than it otherwise would by attracting additional fundsthrough matching gifts and hourly and student-focused challenges. If you win, you get to choose a unit to receive a bonus $1,000. Some sample challenges include:

  • 4am-5am EST: Did you meet your significant other at U-M(Biological Station)? Share a photo on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and flag it with #GivingBlueday.
  • 7am-8am: What's your favorite U-M memory? Share your story on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using #GivingBlueday.
  • 4pm-5pm: Fill in the blank and the unit of your choice could receive extra funds: "____ should receive an extra $1,000 today for #GivingBlueday because _________."

A complete list of the hourly challenges appear here.

STUDENTS, thanks to the generosity of several U-M donors, gifts you make on Giving Blueday will be matched up to $40,000 total ($500 per individual gift), while funds last. Last year we had some $5 student gifts (which translates to $10!). Every gift makes a difference!

By choosing to support Michigan on Giving Blueday, you’ll join other members of the Michigan family from around the world—alumni, students, faculty, staff, parents, grandparents, patients and their families, fans, patrons, and devotees—to create an enormous impact. We look forward to hearing from you next Tuesday, December 1.
