Howard S. Holmes, II Charity Golf Invitational
While attending Albion College, Howard S. Holmes, II searched for a unique way to celebrate his 21stbirthday with something tangible and meaningful for the community. Over the past six years, the charity golf invitational has raised over $195,000 engaging over 500 people and benefiting five outstanding nonprofits in Washtenaw County.
TELLING IT was founded in 2002 as an arts-based literacy program for school-age youth experiencing homelessness. Over time, it became clear that youth need to process the hurts in their lives first before they can practice reading and writing. TELLING IT developed and included therapeutic elements along with emotional literacy skills to support healing, learning and empowering of youth who have experienced some form of trauma so they can lead safe, healthy and fulfilling lives. www.lsa.umich.edu/tellingit
