Animal behavioral training systems - ARS developed an integrated software and hardware solution for interfacing animal behavioral training systems with MATLAB and Arduino microcontrollers for Psychology.
Standardized NMR billing mechanism - Research Computing & Infrastructure, Chemistry, and Biophysics worked together on the development of a standardized NMR billing mechanism. In the longer term, this can be evolved into a simple, uniform chargeback system adaptable to research devices across LSA.
Lab hazard signage - Research Computing & Infrastructure facilitated interactions between EHS, Michigan Creative, and Chemistry to update lab hazard signage in their department to use the Globally Harmonized icons.
Advanced visualization workstation - In collaboration with the Statistics department, Research Computing & Infrastructure is deploying an advanced visualization workstation to provide researchers college-wide with tools for exploring and manipulating large datasets.
IT solutions for field work - Research Computing & Infrastructure provides expertise in and demo equipment for faculty evaluating IT solutions for field work, whether that is conducting door-to-door surveys or gathering scientific data atop a mountain.
More examples to come as the Research Computing & Infrastructure Team continues work across LSA!
Research Computing & Infrastructure staff are happy to help with:
Understanding, selecting and managing storage based on size, type of data, type of access and location of analysis to be performed.
Exploring backup options suitable for your data.
Assisting in security of research data.
Assisting in locating long term archiving locations for research data.
Research Computing & Infrastructure staff are happy to provide assistance integrating research equipment with local or campus-wide IT infrastructure, both in the lab and in the field.
When there is a requirement for a computer to run a specialized equipment, such as a microscope or a chromatograph, there is a need to interface it with the computer, via custom setups, to extract and process data. LSAIT Research Support staff assist in:
Consulting on the design and setup for your devices.
Working with vendors as needed in setup and deployment.
Production of needed devices to facilitate your work.
Security, data management, backup and maintenance planning for your research setup.
Research Computing & Infrastructure can help you:
Determine your needed technology items.
Obtain quotes and costs for needed technology hardware, software and services.
Write text about the needed technology for funding submissions.
Assist in purchase and implementation of technologies in awarded grants.
Faculty, researchers, staff, and students in LSA.
