When using iClicker Cloud, all student data is saved on iClicker's secure servers and available to you and your students anytime, anywhere. Cloud access is always free for instructors, however, students may need to pay for an account depending on what school/college the course is affilated with. Question types include multiple choice, true/false, short response, numeric, and target (heat map).
Instructors may choose from two options for how students will participate in polling:
Mobile Device Polling: Instructor uses iClicker Cloud software which provides access to data anytime, anywhere as well as an online gradebook and additional question types. Students poll using their mobile devices (smartphone, tablet, laptop).
iClicker Remote Polling: Instructor uses iClicker Cloud software which provides access to data anytime, anywhere as well as an online gradebook and additional question types. Students poll using iClicker remotes (available for purchase at the U-M Tech Shop).

iClicker Groups Instructor FAQ.
iClicker Groups Instructor Guide.
“Lightning Rounds” is a student engagement technique that challenges students to quickly retrieve prior knowledge. Students are given a series of questions they must answer in quick succession—the object is to be one of the first students to respond. Lightning rounds help students self-assess how well they know the subject matter and how quickly they can retrieve it. Because the polling session moves so quickly, iClicker remotes work better for this activity than having students use the app on their devices. Student responses get from the remote to the base station receiver in the room much quicker than a response in the app can cross the network to iClicker’s servers and back.
iClicker kits for lightning rounds are available at no charge to LSA instructors. Instructors who want to reserve an iClicker kit will need to first schedule a consultation with LSA Learning and Teaching Consultants to discuss the planned activity and go over the options.
