LSA Technology Services provides training and assistance on a wide range of media creation tools.

One-on-one support is also available through BlueCorps. To schedule an appointment, email LSATechnologyServices@umich.edu or call 734.763.2985. Faculty looking to incorporate one of these titles into your course are encouraged to contact Technology Services to discuss training options for students and/or to receive a consultation regarding pedagogy.

Adobe Illustrator

Adobe Illustrator is a graphic editor that is part of the Adobe suite of products. It is commonly used by graphic designers and artists to create illustrations, charts, graphs, logos, diagrams, cartoons of real photographs, and more. Illustrator can be used on both Mac and Windows operating systems.

Adobe InDesign

InDesign is a graphic editor that is part of the Adobe suite of products. It is commonly used by graphic designers to create posters, flyers, brochures, magazines, newspapers, presentations, books and ebooks. InDesign can be used on both Mac and Windows operating systems.

Adobe Photoshop

Photoshop is a photo editor that is part of the Adobe suite of products. It is commonly used by photographers and graphic designers to manipulate, crop, resize, and correct color on digital photos. Photoshop can be used on both Mac and Windows operating systems.

Adobe Premiere

Premiere is a video editor that is a part of the Adobe suite of products. It is commonly used by videographers to import video, audio, and graphics in a wide variety of formats as well as to edit video and audio using effects, filters, and titles. Premiere can be used on both Mac and Windows operating systems.

Video Tutorial

Camtasia

Camtasia is a video editing and recording software. It is used for creating video tutorials and presentations directly via screencast, or via a recording plug-in to Microsoft PowerPoint. Camtasia can be used on both Mac and Windows operating systems. It is available to download for a fee but it is installed on most campus computers.

Final Cut Pro

Final Cut Pro is a video editing software from Apple. It is used for creating videos and movies by importing images, audio, and video clips that can be edited using filters, titles, and effects. Final Cut Pro can only be used on Mac iOS. It is available for purchase on the App Store and is installed on some campus computers that run the Mac iOS.

Garage Band

GarageBand is an audio editing and recording software. It is used for creating music and podcasts with various effects and recordings. GarageBand comes standard on all iOS devices and can only used on Mac operating systems. It is available on all Campus Mac Computers.

iMovie

iMovie is a video editing software from Apple. It is used for creating videos and movies by importing images, audio, and video clips that can be edited using filters, titles, and effects. iMovie can only be used on Mac iOS. It comes standard on all Macs and is installed on campus computers that run the Mac iOS.

Kaltura Personal Capture

Kultura Personal Capture is a video editing and recording software. It is used for creating video tutorials and presentations directly via screencapture, or via a direct recording plug-in to Microsoft PowerPoint. Capture Space can be used on both Mac and Windows operating systems. It is available to download for free through your Canvas account.
