Next steps if you, your students, or your staff are ill.
Report your illness
Students who miss class due to illness need to inform their instructors as soon as possible. The LSA Illness Reporting Form facilitates initial communication between students and instructors and advisors. To learn more, please visit the Reporting an Illness page.
When a student reports their illness through the site, their instructors and advisors are notified with the date the student began to miss classes. The notification does not constitute an excused absence. Students are expected, as soon as they are able, to contact each of their instructors regarding options for making up missed work and possibly providing documentation of their absence, if required by individual instructors.
Care For Yourself
Stay home if you are sick. Eat at least a little bit regularly and drink as much water or juice as you can.
If your illness is severe, seek medical help from your regular doctor, a clinic, or a hospital.
Communicate with Instructors After You Are Well
When you are well enough to do classwork again, communicate with your instructors about how to make up work you missed.
If You Are Quarantined
If you are not yet ill but quarantined or otherwise unable to attend class, inform your instructors as soon as possible, either directly or through the Illness Reporting Form described above. Follow up with the instructor to ask how you can participate and keep up with the class. If you need technical assistance using any online options you and your instructors decide on, you can call 734-615-0100, prompt 1.
