About InSpace
InSpace offers a unique and effective set of tools that provide proximity audio-based discussion groups. This feature allows for students to hear only those in their group rooms. InSpace supports immersive and engaging classroom experiences that are more like in-person interactions than are provided by traditional web-conferencing tools such as Zoom.
InSpace, which can be installed directly in your Canvas course, provides a space in which participants can freely move their user-icons; you can clearly hear users who you are close to, while users further away fade out, just as it would in person.
Instructors can always make themselves heard to everyone, and can gather the participants around anything they are presenting or sharing. InSpace also allows creation of group spaces, which become largely private to the occupants. This makes it a very powerful and flexible platform for group work and discussions. The ease and flexibility also makes it an ideal solution for virtual office hours, as students across all your courses can simply drop in-- no link sharing required!
The virtual space can be customized for groups, presentations, or discussions. Instructors can even create their own environments and backgrounds for the sessions. Students can “raise hands” or “shake their circle” to ask questions live.
InSpace also offers a mobile app for students, which provides most of the functionality of the browser version.
