What to expect with the Touch User Interface?

We have scheduled the next code release (5.5.0) for Thursday, June 4th. After this release, the default editor will change to the Touch UI. Moving forward, any bug fixes, improvements, and updates will only be for the Touch UI unless otherwise stated.

Web and Applications Services Team has scheduled the next AEM code release (5.5.0) for Thursday, June 4th. With the release  of 5.5.0, the default editor for AEM will change from the Classic User Interface (Classic UI) to Touch User Interface (Touch UI). With input from our pilot Editors, we have implemented various improvements and updates to the Touch UI for a smoother transition. Some of these improvements include:

  • Consolidation of templates

  • Visual Iconography for Templates and Components

  • Advance Component options

While we were able to accommodate a variety of requests, other requests are currently in the hands of the vendor - Adobe. We are working with them to resolve these requests in a timely manner.

So, what does this mean?

Logging into your Project Dashboard will remain the same.

When you select a page to edit, you will be taken to the Touch UI view.

Instead of the Sidekick, the Side Panel displays both your assets and the component list.

To access page fields for People Profile and LSA News Article, click on the Page Information and select “Open Properties”. From there you will select the Details Tab.

For those who use Handy URLs, you will need to add “editor.html” once you are taken into the authoring instance to open the Touch UI functionality.
