Four new team members joined us between September and December. Learn more about their positions and why they are excited to join LSA Technology Services. Welcome Tyler, Kellie, Matteo, and Ruiqi!
Tyler Deckman, Instructional Media Production Assistant
Tyler graduated from Grand Valley State with a degree in Video Production and Editing. After graduating, he worked as a freelancer, filming weddings and corporate promotional videos, and created his own short films that showcase his technical talents.
As a member of LSA Technology Services, he will be working as a videographer and editor for Instructional Video. He will also be assisting with our pre-production process, and helping to raise the production and instructional values of the content we produce.
Kellie Grassman, Digital Accessibility Specialist
Prior to joining LSA Technology Services, Kellie served as Assistant Director for Technology-Informed Pedagogy with the Center for Research on Learning and Teaching (CRLT) in Engineering. She has spent most of her career in higher education at several different institutions, but as a Michigan alum, she’s excited to be back hoMe!
In LSA Technology Services, Kellie is in a newly-formed position as a Digital Accessibility Specialist. She expects to engage project teams to create new programs, services, and capabilities in partnership with our LSA Disability Navigators to improve digital accessibility across the college and beyond.
Kellie is passionate about ensuring inclusive, equitable, barrier-free environments for all students, faculty, and staff. She is excited about this opportunity to create a tangible impact on our campus technology and culture.
Matteo Santia, Systems Administrator
Matteo has been in the IT field for 10 years working in various different positions and industries. Most recently he has come from University of Washington working as a Systems Administrator.
As a Systems Administrator on the Infrastructure team within LSA Technology Services, he will provide support and oversight on our server landscape to maintain all of LSA’s various systems, aiding our staff and students in their success.
Matteo is most excited to learn about new kinds of technologies and getting more exposure to the systems being used within higher education that may differ from other environments he has been a part of.
Ruiqi Sun, Web Designer
Ruiqi graduated from New York University and ventured into the realm of digital design. This path took her through various industries, including education, FinTech, AI, and advertising, enriching her design experience and perspective. Most recently, she worked as a UI/UX Designer at CheersYou International Consulting, focusing on visualizing research data and creating intuitive EdTech interfaces. A constant in her career has been a deep-rooted commitment to the education and non-profit sectors. Over the past six years, she has been driven by the ambition to use design as a force for positive change, consistently striving to blend aesthetic elegance with functional, user-centered solutions.
In LSA Technology Services, Ruiqi will be focusing on web design and digital media initiatives. Her role involves designing and implementing web interfaces and creative assets that enhance user interaction and experience. She’ll be collaborating closely with faculty, researchers, librarians, designers, and developers to ensure our digital platforms are both visually appealing and functionally robust.
Ruiqi is thrilled about the unique opportunity to contribute to the educational environment at the University of Michigan and collaborate on exciting projects with the Digital Scholarship Studio. Working alongside a diverse and dedicated team to develop digital solutions that enrich the educational community is a prospect that genuinely ignites her passion. Furthermore, she eagerly anticipates the chance to share her insights, bring innovative ideas to the table, and grow from the extensive expertise of the LSA Technology Services team.
