On Thursday, May 7, LSA Technology Services gathered together on Zoom to celebrate the work of staff members and graduating student staff. The Staff Recognition Program celebrates individuals and teams within LSA Technology Services who exemplify our organizational values and positively impact our strategic goals and overall mission. Read about the amazing work our staff is doing for the LSA community and each other, in addition to the exceptional work done by our graduating student staff.
Research Team
The Research Team was nominated for finding a new way for LSA researchers to seek out and receive hands-on support from LSA Technology Services in the areas of high performance computing, geographic information systems, programming, and digital scholarship by creating the new research drop-in consultation sessions. The award they received is “Do What is Important to Others”.
Engineering Team
The Engineering Team is unique in the case that they are truly the front end workers from brainstorming the best designs for workspaces to keeping up with the latest technology in order to create a learning environment that meets the needs of everyone involved. The award they received is “Do What is Important to Others”.
Duo Student Communication Team
The Duo Student Communication Team was nominated for their outstanding work to let LSA students know about Duo. From sending out the Duo message, re-tweeting, editing our newsletter article, and supersized signs to hang, the communication team was crucial in having a smooth two-factor transition for students. The communication team received the “We’ve Got Your Back” award.
Assisted Listening Team
The Assisted Listening Team have taken the initiative to determine the status of our assisted listening devices in the auditoriums. They are making the time to go from auditorium to auditorium testing the equipment, replacing and adding where missing. Their effort will greatly enhance our services. They have received the “We Do What We Say We Are Going To Do” award.
Monika Dressler
Moni consistently supports staff and faculty alike. The day before classes were to start the lighting breaker system failed in Auditorium A, Moni gathered the technicians to help determine what the problem was and lead the team to test and troubleshoot, always with an eye on other options. Moni worked with the plant electricians, Support Services AV techs and contacted each instructor. Moni received the “Learn What is Important to Others” award.
Kristin Sumrall
Kristen was nominated for her work with the Web Services Team for creating materials, obtaining user feedback, then revising the materials is a challenging process. Kristin's positive attitude shows that she truly enjoys the work and as a result of that, the end-result is a stellar example of how designers, developers, and users can work together to create the most effective product. Kristen received the “Learn What is Important to Others” award.
Brian Woodring
Brian took the initiative and installed new microphone systems in our booths. Our booths had working mics but due to many years of use and frequency changes the mics were starting to fail. When the new mics arrived Brain started with the most needful rooms first and got to work. These new systems help the technicians with better readable displays. Brian received the “Learn What is Important to Others” award.
Rachel Kreager
Rachel was nominated for her work with iClicker training. Rachel worked with Faculty members who did not have as much technology experience on how to best implement iClicker in the classroom. She did so while having patience, empathy and understanding of the faculty’s wants and needs. Rachel received the “Seek to Understand and be Understood” award.
Adam Burkhardt
Adam was nominated for his work on our auditorium lighting systems. Specifically, Adam has studied deep learning to work out our lighting control issues in auditorium A. Adam is now working on a comprehensive troubleshooting guide to help the operation technicians better understand the system. Adam's efforts will lead to a better understanding of our lighting systems and provide the technicians with better information. Adam received the “Be a Lifelong Explorer” award.
Crinn Fairbanks
Crinn Fairbanks is always finding new ways to engage LSA Technology Services. Recently, she worked with the LSA inclusivity passport to help LSA technology Services have more. Her work helped build a program to foster a more inclusive environment for LSA Technology Services. Crinn received the “Be a Lifelong Explorer” award.
Josh Simon
Josh is frequently the point person to field infrastructure related requests. Many times he is asked for very detailed reporting, accounting, or explanations for a particular configuration. Josh performed a comprehensive historical review of a certificate chain per my request so we could better understand the evolution of the work and make better, more informed decisions on related issues. Josh received the “We Do What We Say We Are Going To Do” award.
Amy Snow-Schell
Amy was nominated for her dedication to providing classroom support. There is constant praise for Amy from faculty. Common quotes are "Amy from Tag really helped." "Amy from Tag fixed the problem right away." "Amy from Tag made it happen." Amy has an outstanding knowledge of our technology and has superb customer care skills. Amy has received the “We Do What We Say We Are Going To Do” award.
Austin Alexandre
Austin continually supports his team in so many different ways and adds knowledge, patience, and empathy to all of his interactions. On one particular occasion, Austin stayed past hours of operation to assist a coworker. Austin stayed over, on his own volition, to offer additional assistance. It's these instances of support and selflessness that always let us know that Austin has our back regardless of the situation. Austin received the “We’ve Got Your Back” award.
Jeremy Gerick and Ashley Koebel
Jeremy and Ashley were nominated for their assistance with helping a co-worker with a precarious situation. While staking large screens onto a moveable cart, Jeremy was there to help balance these screens and get them to their destination. Jeremy and Ashley received the “We’ve Got Your Back” award.
Jessyca Hannah
Jessyca was nominated for her helping hand in the business office. When Crinn was away for an extended amount of time, Jessyca covered the Business Office, on top of her regular duties. Jessyca has received the “We’ve Got Your Back” award.
Bob Pelcher
Bob was nominated by his peers for his courteous, friendly, and helpful interactions. He is consistently present to offer help and never hesitates whenever asked, for his help. He often provides not only an answer but an easier solution, making all our lives easier. Bob has received the “We’ve Got Your Back” award.
Alyssa Longo
Alyssa does a lot to make the gears turn at LSA Technology Services. Her recent nomination was for taking time out of her everyday schedule to help assemble whiteboards for classrooms. Alyssa received the “Stronger Together” award.
Tully Svekric
Tully was nominated for his assistance with the Operations Team. Tully has helped the Ops Technicians in many ways. Recently, Tully had all of the booth Macs updated. This meant going from booth to booth gathering the Macs. Tully directed students to pick up. There were quite a few and Tully had them updated and returned before the first day of Winter 2020 class. Tully received the “Stronger Together” award.
Arwulf Grenier
Arwulf's dedication to search out and identify inconsistencies with his teams schedule has saved them many hours of frustration. There are many instances where Arwulf was able to identify and provide early solutions for events and classes. Arwulf's proactive and forward thinking efforts have led to a much more informed and prepared technical staff. With so many working on the various schedules Arwulf has kept the schedules very comprehensive and the formatting standard. Arwulf received the “Stronger Together” award.
