Secure Testing with Canvas Exams

LSA now offers a security feature with Canvas exams.
by Teri Horton, Senior Consultant

There are many compelling reasons to use electronic exams, but instructors need the testing environment to be secure. LSA has added a security feature to Canvas that will lock down the testing environment. The browser prevents users from copying, pasting, printing, accessing other applications, or visiting other websites during an online exam — unless the instructor has set permission. Instructors adjust the Canvas Quiz settings so students can only take the exam through the Lockdown Browser. Students must first download the Lockdown Browser on their own laptops. After launching the browser, they will be taken directly to their Canvas site where they can locate the quiz and begin the exam.
